The Golden State Warriors beat the Toronto Raptors 129 to 117 on Friday, January 27. Steve Kerr and his staff helped generate adjustments and plays to counter the Raptors' defense and drive by their offense.
Before the game, Steve Kerr spoke about Stephen Curry. “He loves putting on a show,” said Kerr. This is true for Curry’s game. He takes far threes, drives to the basket with fancy lay ups, and celebrates the wins with his own dance moves at times.
“He’s a showman at heart,” said Kerr.
Curry’s showmanship spread to a few of his teammates too.
Anthony Lamb came out of halftime and shot rocket threes. His consistency and shot makes kept the crowd roaring and the energy flowing. Every chance he got to put up a shot, he took it and made it his moment. Lamb built momentum at the start of the third quarter and kept his groove. He became the star of the show to start the third quarter.
Sharing the stage with Curry and Lamb is Jonathan Kuminga. Kuminga made his debut in the third quarter as well. The Warriors moved the ball and created open shots for players. Kuminga’s teammates kept his shot hot and thriving by making passes to get him open. Three after three, he swished the ball through the basket.
Adding showmanship to his game, Kuminga celebrated each three he hit with pride and three fingers held high.
Curry continues to perform on his stage, and his teammates grew to level with his energy. This Warrior game versus the Raptors had key moments in the third quarter. The Warriors’ staff and players found ways to keep shots flying and defend the Raptors by making adjustments.
One line that summarizes this game and the players' performances is said by Kerr after the game.
“The whole key was taking care of the ball,” said Kerr.
